IGS files carry CAD data in the Initial Graphics Exchange Specification, a neutral standard that has moved 2D drawings and 3D models between engineering systems since the 1980s. Because IGES is vendor neutral, suppliers and customers still exchange parts in this format even when they work in different CAD packages.

Opening those models normally takes CAD software. GroupDocs.Viewer Cloud removes that requirement: a REST call renders an IGS file to HTML, PDF, JPG or PNG while the geometry processing runs in the cloud rather than on the phone. A purchasing manager or a field engineer can then check the part on an Android device.

The Android SDK for Java plugs into a Gradle or Maven build and comes with samples for the common tasks: render a model, generate thumbnails, zoom into a detail, or output only the pages you need. The same integration covers more than 180 other formats, including DWG and DXF drawings.
